# Where to put your link so people actually tap it

> A link nobody sees earns nothing. Every place your link should live, from the Instagram bio to WhatsApp Status to the merch table, and the one line that turns "link in bio" into a tap.

A links page nobody visits does nothing. The creators who get the most out of theirs aren't the ones with the prettiest page. They're the ones who put the link in front of people often, in the right places, with a reason to tap it.

This is the checklist. Do it once, in one sitting, and the link works for you every day after.

## The five-minute version

1. **Instagram bio.** Edit profile, then Links, then Add external link. If an old link is sitting there, replace it rather than adding a second. One link gets tapped; a list of four gets ignored.
2. **TikTok bio.** Edit profile, then Website. TikTok only shows the website field to some accounts, usually business accounts or personal ones past 1,000 followers, and not in every region. If you don't see it, type the link into your bio as text. People will type a short link; they won't type a long one.
3. **WhatsApp Status.** Post the link today with one line about what's there. Your contacts are the people most likely to tap first.
4. **YouTube.** Customise channel, then Basic info, then Links. Then put it in the first line of every video description, not the last.
5. **Facebook.** Add it to your page's Website field and pin a post with it.

> **Note:** keep your link short and sayable. If you can't read it out in a voice note without spelling it, it's too long.

## The places most creators forget

- **The Instagram Story link sticker.** Every account has had it since Instagram opened it to all users in 2021. A bio link waits for people to find it. A Story with a link sticker is a direct invitation, and it's where most taps come from.
- **Your WhatsApp Channel.** If you run one, put the link in the description.
- **A pinned comment.** On your best-performing TikTok or Reel, pin a comment: "Full version on my page, link in bio."
- **Your email signature.** If brands email you, every reply is a free advert.
- **Out in the world.** Markets, gigs, shows, church events, a talk at school. Turn the link into a QR code and put it on a printed card, your merch table, or the last slide of your presentation.

## The one line that makes people tap

"Link in bio" on its own does nothing. People tap when they know what's on the other side. Swap the vague line for a specific one:

- "The full 20-minute workout is on my page, link in bio."
- "I put the recipe with quantities on my page. Link in bio."
- "Bonus episode is up. Link in bio."
- "If this helped, you can send me a tip. Link in bio."

The pattern is always the same: *the thing*, then *where it is*. End your free posts with it, every time, until your followers know your page is where the extra lives.

## Make the page worth the tap

Before you start pointing people at it, open your page on your phone and look at it like a stranger would:

- Is there a photo of you, and one line that says what you make?
- Are your best two or three links at the top, not your oldest ones?
- Is there something to *do*: a free list to join, a product, a way to tip? A page of nothing but social icons sends people straight back where they came from.

## Check that it's working

Most link-in-bio tools show visits and which links got tapped. After a week of sharing, look. If one place sends most of your visitors, post there more. If a link nobody taps is sitting at the top, move it down.

## What to do this week

- **Replace** any old or duplicate link in your Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Facebook bios.
- **Post one Story** with a link sticker and a specific line about what's on the page.
- **Pin a comment** with the link on your best post of the last month.
- **Rewrite your sign-off.** Drop "link in bio" for "the thing, then where it is".
- **Check your numbers** in seven days and double down on the place that's working.
